What to know after week 2 of high school football

St. Philip/Athens Week 1: The St. Philip/Athens co-op lost to Concord 42-14 on Friday at C.W. Post Field. The Tigers kept the game close at halftime. leading 8-6, with a strategy of ball control and shortening the game. However, the Concord passing game took over in the second half in the win. On offense, St. Philip/Athens was productive in the passing game quarterback Caleb Francisco scoring one through the air and once on the ground and receiver Silas Hall catching four passes for 85 yards. Will Rapelje had nine tackles on defense. Next: St. Philip/Athens will have a short week as it will be on the road for a Thursday game at Litchfield. Litchfield has jumped out to a good start at 2-0 after a 36-24 win over Waldron in Week 2. Litchfield was 4-5 a year ago with one of those wins coming against St. Philip at 50-6.
