The Battle Creek Central High School girls swimming and diving team is entering the new season, noted coach Tiara Ashley-Wheeler, with “a talented and diverse group of swimmers and divers, combining experienced returning athletes with newcomers.” “Leading the way is captain Bryn Hall, a standout athlete who brings skill, determination and leadership to the team, said Ashley-Wheeler. “As captain, Bryn will play an important role, not only in competition, but also in helping establish the positive team culture the Bearcats hope to build throughout the season.” The team will also welcomes back returning diver Alexandria Smith and returning swimmer Charlie Buckley. “Their experience gives the team valuable familiarity with competition and the demands of the sport, while providing an opportunity for the returning athletes to help guide those who are new to swimming and diving,” noted the coach. This year’s roster also includes several athletes who are joining the sport for the first time. “Their presence adds another dimension to the team and reflects the diversity of skills, experiences and personalities that make up the Bearcat program,” said Ashley-Wheeler, who added that success this season will be measured by more than times, places and wins. “We have an ongoing goal of building a strong, connected team,” said Ashley-Wheeler. “The Bearcats want their athletes to encourage one another, celebrate each other’s accomplishments and form relationships that extend beyond the pool.
